Estonian Embassy in Stockholm marked the 107th anniversary of the Republic of Estonia

Yesterday, the Estonian Embassy in Stockholm marked the 107th anniversary of the Republic of Estonia with a reception on board Silja Symphony, together with our good friends from Sweden and representatives of the local Estonian community.

Estonia and Sweden are united by shared values, close economic and cultural ties, and a joint responsibility for ensuring the security and stability of the Baltic Sea region. Our cooperation has never been as strong and forward-looking as it is today.

This message was echoed in speeches by Ambassador Toomas Lukk, Minister of Economic Affairs and Industry Erkki Keldo, Secretary-General of the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs Dag Hartelius, and CEO of Tallink Silja AB Piret Mürk-Dubout.

A particularly memorable moment came when Secretary-General Hartelius addressed the guests in Estonian on behalf of the Swedish Government and, to the delight of all present, shared that after years of working in Estonia, he considers the country his second home.

The atmosphere was further enriched by a beautiful performance from the Stockholm Estonian Mixed Choir and Tymur Vasylyshyn, who performed the Ukrainian national anthem— a heartfelt reminder of our shared support for Ukraine.

We extend our sincere thanks to Tallink for their support, which made this event possible.

Wishing everyone a joyful upcoming Independence Day. Elagu Eesti – Long live Estonia!
