Estonian Ambassador to Sweden Toomas Lukk presents his credentials

Friday 30 September, Estonian Ambassador to Sweden Toomas Lukk presented his credentials to King Carl XVI Gustaf.

In the conversation following the presentation ceremony, they spoke about the good relations of Estonia and Sweden and possibilities for further cooperation. His Majesty recalled his state visit about 20 years ago, when he visited Tartu and Haapsalu, and enquired after developments in Estonia. “I said His Majesty was welcome to visit Estonia again and underlined that the recently published visionary report on the cooperation of Estonia and Sweden was an important milestone in developing bilateral relations,” Lukk said.

In light of recent news, the ambassador and the His Majesty also discussed the impact the explosions at the Nord Stream pipelines had on environmental security.

Ambassador Lukk was born on 17 June 1962 in Tapa. He specialised in geography in the University of Tartu and completed further studies at the Central European University and Leiden University. Lukk joined the foreign service in 1993. He has represented Estonia as an ambassador in Latvia, Georgia and Armenia, China, Vietnam and Mongolia and Canada.
